Making Black America

Making Black America

Making Black America: Through the Grapevine is a four-part series hosted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., that chronicles the vast social networks and organizations created by and for Black people — beyond the reach of the "White gaze." Professor Gates sits with noted scholars, politicians, cultural leaders, and old friends to discuss this world behind the color line and what it looks like today.

Project Highlights:
Designed this original key art for the four-part PBS series
Created the title treatment for the poster and project
Created the horizontal and other breakouts
Creative Director: Adam Waldman, Associate Creative Director: Aimo Weichelt for The Refinery

Every piece of created by the team for this project was original and compelling. As such, I was honored to design the finish for Making Black America. The poster is meant to highlight the interwoven stories of the four-part series which combine to tell a bigger story.
