Season 5 is all about gambling and an underground casino in the Arconia. This key art "house of cards" concept is a showcase of the season's theme, a metaphor for the delicate balancing act our trio does throughout the show, and an evolution of the art from prior seasons - becoming more and more three-dimensional. I got to see this idea through from concept to build to breakout. I used the Arconia entrance as my card back, and stylized windows both in the background and as the card suits. The very talented Jonathan Oh helped render the Empire State and other New York buildings using the cards I built to use in the artwork.
